You should visually inspect all vacuum hoses every month. The hoses should not be cracked, bent, cut, kinked, torn or otherwise damaged.

Connections should be secure; you should not be able to hear any air leaks. Tighten the connections or replace the hose if necessary.

Check all rubber hoses that are connected to the intake manifold or air cleaner. Pay extra attention to the large rubber hose connecting the engine and power brake booster. If this hose is defective, the brakes will be difficult to apply.
